ABB is a leading technology company in electrification and automation, enabling a more sustainable and resource-efficient future. The company’s solutions combine engineering expertise with software to improve the way things are made, moved, powered and operated. Building on more than 130 years of excellence, ABB’s approximately 105,000 employees are committed to driving innovation to accelerate industry transformation.
Objective
ABB has initiated an IT transformation project with the goal of designing and implementing an end-to-end, centralized, and sustainable identity & user access management solution. In addition to meeting security and regulatory requirements, this global solution should also integrate upstream systems as well as ICOFR-relevant applications and platforms.
AdEx Partners initialized, structured and later managed the project and continuously contributed expertise on IAM processes.
Value proposition & approach
By analyzing the problem and documenting the current challenges around IAM, AdEx Partners played a crucial role in structuring ABBs IAM approach and allowed to create respective policies and principles. Situationally, different customer-oriented approaches were chosen (POC, pilot implementation). Those were the basis for decision-making in further phases and their implementation. With a standardized and industrialized onboarding approach for applications (centralized management of authorizations), AdEx Partners was able to support ABB in achieving good results in short increments. Intensive stakeholder management was a key success factor to drive standardization as well as to meet different expectations on the IAM platform.
